What should a pregnant and lactating bitch eat?+
During the last third of pregnancy and all of lactation, the bitch needs a very energy-dense food rich in quality protein —usually a puppy or high-energy formula— with adequate calcium and DHA. Needs can multiply during peak lactation, so she is often fed on demand.
When do the litter's puppies start eating food?+
From 3-4 weeks, coinciding with weaning, they are offered puppy food moistened with warm water to form a porridge. The water is gradually reduced until, by around 7-8 weeks, they eat dry food normally.
